National Highway, Barrio Barretto, Olongapo , Subic, Zambales, Philippines 2209
Bar Barretto’s is the newest bar in Barrio Barretto. In days gone by this was the large Abracadabra bar which was extremely popular amongst US servicemen and naval personnel. Today the building has been split in half and the ownership is divided between Tomo of Blue Rock fame and Kenny of Honky Tonk fame here in Angeles. This bar is very much the latest bar in Barrio Barretto being opened on July 5, 2008 and although it is still very much in it’s so called ‘honeymoon period’ I confidently predict a lucrative future for this bar. Basically it is ideally located it is a unique and yet at the same time traditional design, the pricing is in accordance with other Barrio Barretto bars and best of all they seem to currently have a large percentage of beautiful girls working there. One novel thing I really liked about the bar was its unique design. As you walk in you are greeted by the security guard and the door girls who promptly open the front door for you and for those of you travelling by private transportation there is off street secure private parking right outside the bars front entrance. As you walk in the bar patrons are greeted by a pool table offset slightly to the left is and across the bar from that on the right hand side is the long and very well stocked, wet bar area.
Above the pool table on the front left hand side wall is a large plasma TV which plays broadcast sporting events along with a chalk board for writing down ones name when the table becomes too busy and there is a queue of people waiting to play. Subic is a much more laid back scene than Angeles and a pool table really is considered an important element in the majority of bars. Having the pool table up front so it is the first thing customers see may seem like a design flaw but contrary to popular belief this tactic works well in that it forces the guys who are interested in meeting girls further into the bar thus they make a sub conscious commitment and are less likely to turn around and leave. This very tactic has successfully been used by Stinger bar since 1996.
Once past the bar and pool table the customer is then confronted with yet another unique design idea. There are a series of half island bar table tops which form a half circle with seating both inside and outside the circle. The girls normally dance on the bar table tops as well as on the stage. ![]()
This seating is a very clever design because it means you can get close to the girls and yet there is still plenty of room to talk with your mates and for your drinks or food to be served. This area serves as a sort of pit as the stage right in front of you is elevated allowing you a perfect view of the girls and the girls a perfect view of you. From the new marble floors through to the varnished bar tops, waitresses uniforms and dancers uniforms everything in this bar is spotlessly clean and thoughtfully designed. ![]()

Because the bars in Barrio Barretto are so close to the shoreline of Subic Bay I am always expecting a cooling sea breeze to be blowing off the bay but invariably I am disappointed and find myself getting hot. I am happy to report there are no such problems in this bar as they have installed 3 x 3 and a half ton air-cons along with 2 x2 and a half ton air-cons. These together with the liberal use of strategically placed overhead fans combine to keep the room temperature perfect for girls and patrons alike. ![]() Another think I liked about the bar was the liberal use of signage.
The bar is owned by Tomo of Blue Rock fame and being the perverted little sod he is with a well developed streak of anal retentiveness he has built a special change room out back for the girls. In the change room he has installed web cams telling the girls this is to provide your security whereas in fact they are linked to a live feed in the office next door. As a result Tomo can get his jollies watching unauthorized change shows without moving from his office.
Last but by no means least, is the bars music. Tomo is very much an old fashioned Aussie when it comes to running bars and he proudly states that the music he plays there is seventies eighties and a little nineties rock and roll which the girls can dance to and the customers enjoy. Tomo is most adamant that he plays music for his customers and since the average age of his customer is 45 plus the music reflects this. The success of any bar will ultimately depend on its girls and currently I have to say the Barrio Barretto ‘s bar seems to have the best lineup in the area. The bar stage is large and filled with some nice looking dancers dressed in clinging blue or red dresses or little black hot pants. In the back of the stage they have used floor to ceiling length mirrors with black lights above them highlighting anything fluorescent within the bar.
There are no bikini clad dancers allowed in Barrio Barretto but this is not a problem since most the bars utilize clinging body hugging dresses, skimpy mini dresses or skin tight hot pants. In Bar Barretto’s there are some very nice looking girls, all are thoughtfully presented and most of them seemed to be proficient at communicating in English. ![]() With its comprehensive range of products, cool air- conditioning, a large range of local and imported drinks, unique design and lineup of attractive girls this bar has rapidly become the pace setter for the Barrio Baretto bar scene. My one negative aspect was I thought the prices were a bit steep in some areas especially the imported ladies drinks. Charging 300 piso for an LD in Barrio Barretto even if it is an imported drink is in my humble opinion inappropriate pricing. This is a classy bar in the heart of Barrio Barretto with a lineup of nice girls and the modern conveniences. In many ways it represents the latest in the development of Barrio Barretto and best of all it is AE friendly and all Asian Escapades members will receive a 10% discount of their customer drink bill upon presentation of their Asian Escapades card. ![]() Return To Reviews Index |
